  • Cost savings are achieved by using the Modular FiberTAP System.
  • The Modular System reduces rack space consumption and provides flexibility in mixing fiber types and split ratios in a single rack space.
  • Thin film couplers (also called planar couplers) are used in our Modular TAPs; these are manufactured with a rigid and precise process, thus have less insertion loss variance than the traditional fused couplers of FTP series TAPs.
  • Corning ClearCurve fiber is used in all models; All 50 micron models use Corning OM4 grade, and 9 micron models use Corning LBL. These are higher grades of fiber than is used in the FTP series and are optimized for use with high-speed data transmission. As such, they are able to support speeds above 10G.
  • In multi-mode Modular TAPs, the combination of thin film couplers and optimized fiber reduces Modal and Chromatic dispersion in light transmission.

Description

Fiber Network TAPs from Datacom Systems provide easy 24 x 7 access to your 1G and 10G fiber links. Use them for permanent in-line monitoring of critical network segments or as a portable troubleshooting device.

Network TAPs (test access points) are purpose-built hardware devices that allow you to monitor your network by making an exact copy of your network’s data and providing that data to connected monitoring tools.

Passive fiber taps are non-powered devices that will not cause the loss of network connections. Links will stay up even during network outages, making fiber taps an ideal solution for security monitoring applications, where you need non-intrusive, dedicated access to your fiber network.

Features & Benefits

  • Permanent in-line access to fiber links- eliminates the need for network connectors to be disconnected and connected each time a segment needs to be analyzed or monitored
  • 100% visibility – view all traffic on both sides of full duplex links
  • Visibility into all layers of traffic, including layer 1 and 2 errors
  • Easy to install – no configuration and no power source required
  • Optional rack-mount package to mount 3 units (1U)
  • Available in single- and multi-mode in a variety of split ratios
  • Designed, manufactured, and tested in the USA
