• Fiber taps make a copy of network traffic to share with analytic or monitoring tools
• Network taps do NOT aggregate traffic from a full duplex network link, they send out two seperate copies of the network traffic, this allows for full line rate visibility
• Fiber taps are non-powered devices, they optically split the light signal so there is no risk of an outage on the link
